Historic Homes of Hampton Falls

The Batchelder Homestead

49 SANBORN ROAD

ANNE COOMBS is a Trustee on the HF Historical Society and comes from a long line of HF Sanborns. Her grandfather grew up in this home, one of the Town’s treasured gems. In the photo are the Sanborn sisters who gave tours of the home to highlight Civil War interior decorating.

The home sat empty for many years and was rehabed in the late 20th century with the entire front of the house removed and replaced.

You may remember it as THE OTHER CHRISTMAS TREE FARM. And the upright well cap on the corner? It’s been moved adjacent to the house.

THE JONES/HARRISON HOUSE

This house was built in 1856 by John F Jones. He was a blacksmith and his shop still stands out back. He was a State Rep in 1876 and 1877 and a Charter member of the Odd Fellows until his death in 1889. Charles Harrison, son Russell, and grandson Clint later owned the house that now stands on the west side of Lafayette Rd just south of the brick house at the corner of Rt 84 and Lafayette Rd. Note the Greek revival trim on the door frame and the columns at the corners.

The oil painting of this house, above, was created by C.A Perkins and is courtesy of the Seabrook Historical Society.
